Baby dedication?

Those who did a Christian baby dedication were you a member of the church? Does it have to be done at a church or can a paticular Pastor do it outside of the church?

    No we were not members of the church.

    Um..not sure! I imagine a Pastor probably would if you asked. But for us they always do it at our church 4 times a year. They bring the family up and then explain a little bit about the family and how old the baby is. Then they have the church pray with them! It's pretty quick. We had about 10 of our extended family come as well!

    Um..not sure! I imagine a Pastor probably would if you asked. But for us they always do it at our church 4 times a year.      I am not a member of a church, My parents church their pastor is moving to florida so they wanted me to have him do it before he leaves he is very dear to them. I am just feeling a litte weird because I am not a member of the church and think its not ok to do it there. maybe i am wrong.

    Oh no, don't feel weird at all! It's just telling everyone that you are "dedicated" to raising your child in a Christian home with Christian values! I kinda get you feeling that way, since it's not your church! But if having that Pastor do it would mean more to your parents, then I think it would be fine!

    DS's Dedication is on July 18th and we are not members of the church. DH has been a few times, but that was ages ago.
