I think your quote might be the best one I have ever read.
I might steal it and put it on a poster in my classroom.
eta: I am so grateful that people like you and your DH (and all the other military families and service people) are out there. You are truly what makes our country great!
Thank you for what you and your husband do for our country.
It must be hard on you both to be apart so much, I'm glad you have a strong relationship to make it through it.
Yes (I should have been more specific). I have a lot of students who are from poverty and they aspire to joining the military after they graduate so they can better their lives.
I think they would really appreciate that quote.
That was me & B.
i grew up what i like to say is "ketchup sandwich poor". I wanted to travel and see the world.
B got into a group of people who were traveling down the drug path. one night when his friends were all strung out he knew he had to get out. So the next day he went and signed up and left a week later.
Good for both of you making the right decision and changing your lives! I love that you can join, serve your country, learn a skill or trade you can take with you, get and education and then when you are out you are so much more marketable to employeers.
I tell my students all the time that their future bosses will love that they served the country because it shows that they have qualities that make them great employees (loyalty, determination, willingness to work hard, etc).
in this economy its not always that easy. but it is amazing.
i'm so happy I got the choice and the opportunity.
