DH will drop everything he's doing to answer the phone. I just don't get that. I mean, sometimes I don't feel like talking, or it's the middle of dinner, or I's changing a dirty diaper, whatever. DH treats the phone like it's sort of emergency.
DH - you have caller ID and voice mail. You will know who called and can call them back. You don't have to answer the phone from the toilet.
Re: Do you always answer the phone?
THIS. I try to answer the phone, but sometimes I just don't feel like dropping and running. And even MORE often, am not in a state or wanting to chit chat.

DD #2 - 03.13
I only answer if I know who it is..... if I don't recognize the number they can leave a message and I'd call them back.
oh, and I don't drop anything to run to the phone....it's usually on low and I don't hear it anyway.
I very rarely do, and rarely even look at it. I will get up to look if I've left a msg for someone to call back, but if it's not that person, I don't answer. Anyone important will call our cell phones, especially in an emergency.
I always answer the phone when it will "let" me. It has been tempermental lately...sometimes it just won't work when I press on. It's about 10 years old...time for a new one. Our land line doesn't ring very often and because we put a "do not call" for telemarketers it is usually family that calls. My brother, nieces, etc. never call unless it is to let me know someone is in the hospital or died. Terrible I know...but it has always been that way. I've always been long distance from my family and before the days of cell phones they just didn't call. It used to be a standard joke that my mom never ever ever called unless someone had died...seriously. Then my brother called...yep - my mom had had a stroke!! I usually answer my cell phone if I hear it as well.
My adult DD and DS rarely answer their cell phones. If I text I get a resonse...but sometimes I'm in the car and it is illegal (or will be July 1st) to text wihle driving. Plus I wear glasses for reading and I hate getting them out. I told my DD that some day someone is going to try calling her to tell her I'm dying or something and she won't even find out until the funeral arrangements are made!! It irritates me to no end.
We don't have a land line, but I'd say I answer my cell about 10% of the time.
And I don't listen to my VM either, and it says so on the message.
My parents, on the other hand, answer their phones all the time. Even just to say "I can't talk right now". I'm like, why answer the phone then?
Me with my littlest.
Ding ding ding! Exactly my point!
