Update from appointment and vent about reg OB

Well the appointment today took forever because Miss Sophie was being completely uncooperative! They needed to get a view of her heart from a certain angle and she just refused to turn over so we could see it. It took 3 tries and lots of walking, drinking water, listening to music, and big sis Kat talking to her and finally she turned. Thank GOD the calcifications have not grown any further and her heart has matured at a normal rate as was a fear that it wouldn't because of the size of the calcifications. Also this was now my last appointment with the high risk specialist which actually makes me sad because he is amazing with a superb bedside manner and his office is a dream to work with.

Now my vent - I've had NOTHING but problems with the office for my regular OB. My OB is someone I went to high school with and I was hoping to be able to stick with her for that reason and because she delivers at the hospital I want to deliver at. After 2.5 hours of waiting last week on the 24th and having to cancel and reschedule for tomorrow I get a letter in the mail yesterday stating that I 'missed' my appointment last week and they may charge me for missing. Then at the high risk guy today we found out that they never did my quad screen when I was there on the 1st of June even though they took 7 vials of blood and that was the main thing they were supposed to do. I am SO freaking frustrated with this office. I'm getting really tired of the BS. I have to stick with certain people - the ones on my hubby's insurance - and I want to deliver at Santa Rosa downtown or Christus Santa Rosa in the Medical Center (being Catholic I really want to deliver at a Catholic hospital). I feel bad that I'm considering getting rid of my OB because she is a fellow alum from my high school but after every time I've been to her office having issues with the office itself I'm ready to shoot someone! I wanted a Catholic OB which she is but I feel like I'm just being treated like a second class citizen by her office! My mother is ready to shoot them, Kat is livid that they are treating her mom like she doesn't count and my hubby is ready to pull me from there so fast their heads would spin. I guess I can talk to the hospital and see who delivers there and who they would recommend and see if they are on my insurance. I just don't know and I'm really tired of the crud!

Sorry that was so long but it was so freaking irritating today!

Re: Update from appointment and vent about reg OB

  • That stinks, maybe it was not a good idea to go with a fellow alum. Just so you know Santa Rosa in the Medical Center does not have a L and D unit.  You can deliver at Downtown :) (I work in their NICU) or Westover or New Braunfels.  Just thought you should know about Santa Rosa MC.
  • Good to know. I would prefer downtown because I go to church right across the street at San Francesco di Paola. :) Our pastor does time at the chapel at Santa Rosa. :)

  • Sorry about your OB, but be happy you have the opportunity to choose who you go to and can change if you want!!

I'd love to hear what they said about the sunscreen too.. That sounded so odd to me and DH had never heard of anything regarding sunscreen either so I'm curious what your OB said.
