For anyone who doesn't know, I'm an RN in a NICU, so I work with extremely sick newborns and am more than aware of all that can go wrong. This, combined with my history, doesn't bode well for a worry-free pregnancy to begin with. I have a coworker who is one of the respiratory therapist on the unit who teases and tells fairly rude jokes frequently. Well, last night we're talking and he's teasing me about things and then starts in on my baby. I won't go into everything he said, but the one that finally crossed the line majorly was "When your baby is born, can I be the one to intubate it?" Implying that my baby is going to be critically ill and require ventilation brought to the surface so many of my greatest fears. He apologized later in the night after several of my friends chewed him a new one....I love my other coworkers. And of course I became a whimpering mess, which is lovely when I'm in the middle of my shift and have babies/families to take care of. Ugg....what a jerk.

that is so wrong on so many levels. he sounds like a total a$$! i'm glad your other coworkers put him in line. i know it is impossible not to worry but i'm sure your lo will be born perfect!
ETA: then you can tell him where to stick that tube.
I can't believe that a&&. That is one of the worst things I have heard.
If he really is telling "jokes" like this all of the time... it is time to take it to HR. A formal written complaint is in order here.
Whoah mama. That's so wrong.
