We have some 100 year old trees on our campus. Big, beautiful Live Oaks. Usually they try to build buildings around them, however sometimes they just can't. This happens to be one of those times. Except instead of cutting down this beautiful tree, they will MOVE IT. That is right, they are moving a tree 25 feet to the left. I could not get my arms all the way around this tree and it is probably 4 stories tall. There are backhoes, cranes, bucket trucks and all sorts of other heavy equipment I can't name out there right now. They have been working on it all morning, but the most the tree has done is tilted. They moved one a few years ago, but that was only a couple of feet, this is 25 feet. I can't wait until the prep work is done and this thing starts moving, it should be so cool.
Wow! I hope it continues to do well once it is moved.
TTC #2, Operative hysteroscopy March 2011; IVF #1 long lupron protocol April 2011-cancelled due to poor response; IVF #2 flare protocol May 2011=hospitalization due to abdominal hemorrhage during ER and no fert due to MFI issues. Moving onto international adoption from Moldova January 2013!

The last time they did this the tree survived, so we are optimistic about this one. I keep going out there to see the progress and they are doing something, but it hasn't moved yet.
Wow, that's great! I can't imagine the roots that things must have...
The bulb they cut it back to is 20 - 30 feet in diameter and deep enough to come to a grown man's head (so 5 - 6 feet). I see crews out there video taping it, so if it ends up on the news, I will post a link to the video.
