I am getting induced Thursday evening at 6 p.m. I was told to eat before coming in but I have no clue what! Do I have a healthy salad or a full dinner? I am clueless since this is my first! Any advice will help!
When my SIL was being induced, they told her to think about her first post-partum BM.. hahaha.. So while the rest of us ate a steak dinner, she ate chicken and "lighter" food. I would think you'd want to fill up on more than a salad though, as once you get to the hospital they wont be giving you anything until after baby is born.
I would go for something that's going to keep you full but is easy to digest. I would definitely recommend having the salad (yay fiber) but also some light proteins (fish?) and I personally would go for the whole wheat pasta too because that stuff keeps me full forever!
I'm in for induction round 2 and these things can take forever...and they don't let you eat! I would suggest eating a nice, big meal before going in...as it is right now, I haven't eaten anything but Jello in over 24 hours. Keep in mind too that you will be laying in bed for a long time, so don't eat anything that will give you gas!

While I'm sure you should eat something filling, my friend warned me not to eat until I was stuffed because when her contractions began she almost immediately threw up! She said she wished she hadn't eaten so much at dinner before going in!
I love it when the doc gives me some piece of advice like "Be sure to eat something first" and then I don't think to ask a question about it like "Ok, what should I eat?" until after I'm already home! LOL It always happens that way.
No way would I eat lettuce... puking lettuce is nasty and can give you an upset stomach. I would eat chicken and mashed potatoes and something else you can't identify when or if it comes back up.

Re: Getting induced... What's for dinner?
Well remember you wont be able to eat until after you have the baby so eat something hearty!
Good luck! Make dinner a fun thing for sure!
A picture is worth a thousand words. I'd bet money your words are ignorant.

I would eat something that sounds tasty - not too heavy though. I throw up during labor (which I've heard is quite common), so nothing really rich.
Save that for after the baby arrives - you really will be ravenous.
