4 year shots ?

DS got the MMR, tetanus, and something else (can't remember) at his 4 year well check yesterday.  He had already caught a mild case of the chicken pox last October so we opted out of that shot.  Since then, he's been very clammy but no fever.  But, he's been complaining about pain in his legs since the appointment.  In fact, he wouldn't even stand up to pee yesterday and had to be carried to bed last night.  And he is so MOODY and cries at everything.  Is this a normal reaction for these shots?  I want my little boy back.

  • Even when my dd gets her flu shot she acts like that.  It really hurts, especially when they're older and they are more aware of what happened.  Did you give him some Tylenol/Motrin?  I'd try that first.  I hope he feels better soon!

He is VERY difficult when it comes to medicine.  I will try to sneak some in some juice but I doubt he'll drink it.  Ugh.

  • Ah! I totally forgot about those.
  • Poor boy, those shots were awful. Ava got them all in her arm and she was in pain and miserable for a good 2 days. Tylenol/Motrin will help if you can get it into him.

Oh darn it.  When R got the first swine flu shot, we didn't think anything of it and she seemed fine until about 4 hours later, when she was complaining and wouldn't even walk.  It didn't even dawn on me that it could be the shot.  Gave her some Tylenol, and 20 minutes later she was fine.  So when the next shot came I made sure to give it to her beforehand and she was fine.

I hope you were able to get some in him.  Poor guy!

  • My DD limped around for a good 24 hours after her shots. No fever or fussiness, but she wanted to be carried a lot too. :(
