I don't know if DD is getting too big for it or if you're supposed to have to pry her out of the thing. She has her six-month appointment on Thursday, but I don't think she's more than 16 or 17 lbs.
Generally once they start crawling, they slim up and lose a lot of the leg chub. Meredith went through a phase where she stopped using it for a while, and then when her legs slimmed up a bit, she went back to sitting in it. Alex, on the other hand, is significantly larger than his sister was, and his legs started turning blue while sitting in it, so I gave up.
Linc too but Emma is 2 and can still fit in it perfectly fine. As matter of fact that was her time out place but she liked it so much she was dragging it to play with toys.

Uh yeah, Abby gets in and out of it all the time too. Their thighs don't really get any bigger apparently =P
Baby C tolerated the Bumbo until he was about 6 months. Then he was scooting all over the house and hated being confined. Now, at a year, he loves playing with the Bumbo by climbing in and out of it.
We still use it every day to put DD's shoes on and do her hair. I agree with pp about losing the leg chub as they get older. We've gone through phases where we've had to pry her out.
Re: How long did your kiddo use the Bumbo chair?
Meredith, 6-1-06 and Alex, 11-5-09

The Blog
DD stopped using the bumbo around 11 months b/c she climbs out even when the tray is attached.
Note: DD is on the small size (17 # at 1 yr)
