I have a 7 year old and a 14 month old - we've been going for a long time. Both kids like the count splash area - the water is shallow enough for DD to go in and she loves the water. There is a small slide that she can go down - but the rest is for bigger kids.
If you do the nets (hanging above ground) make sure you or DH has sneakers on - they hurt your feet otherwise - kids don't seem to mind, just grownups. Bring snacks and water - food there is expensive. Also there are a ton of restaurants on both directions so don't feel like you have to eat at Sesame.
We don't spend whole days there so I can't help with napping. Either we go at 10 and leave by 1 - or we don't go until after 3:00 - we have season passes so this makes it easy and the kids don't mind.
Get to shows early - they fill up especially on weekends - I would get in line 20 - 30 minutes early (this might be a good nap time).
The parade route fills up quick also - if you want front seats and the kids to see the muppets - go and sit on the pavement 20 -30 minutes early.
Other than that, have fun - its just the right size for a toddler - plus don't forget your suit - their is a lazy river and tubes you can down with child on your lap. We always bring 2 outfits and 2 suits for kids and I just wear my suit under my clothes and bring a change for going home. And don't forget towels - you always see people there who forgot towels!

How old is your toddler?
