Parenting after a Loss

I think it's the dairy

So I decided to do a little experiment since so many people in my family are allergic to dairy (I was as well as a child and up until I got pregnant, everytime I ate dairy it made my face break out). I was snacking all day on cheese until Sunday, and yesterday and today I cut way way back (snacked on fruit instead, only dairy was the 1/2 and 1/2 in my coffee). I have a different baby today. He's been an angel. I so don't want it to be the dairy, but it just might be. He also has slept through the night the last 2 nights, and last night it was from 9:30ish to 7am today.

Do I dare reintroduce it in several days?

  • I would wait a few days and the reintroduce it in a small quantity, and if you notice a negative difference, then I think you'll have your answer.  Unfortunately, with such an extensive history, it sounds like there's a pretty good chance your little guy is going to have the same issues. :-/

I was really hoping it wouldn't be so, cause I'm loving eating cheese (like the earlier thread today!) but I think it's going to make a difference. Which I guess is a good thing. I can eat cheese again once I'm no longer BF'ing.

  • If you really want to test whether your child is allergic to dairy, you should cut it out for at least 2 weeks.  It can take that long for all traces to leave your system, and actually, maybe a little longer for it to leave your LO's system.  Once you're done with the waiting period, eat a bunch of it, and you will see within 24 hours whether or not your child regresses.  This is what we did with dairy and a number of other foods DD was/is allergic to.  She is still very allergic to dairy.
