After talking to my Meep at length, we made a decision: we are going for it! She went and checked the place out today, and we put down the deposit. So, as of August 1st, I have a new place to live. It's a 2bd 1bath unit in a fourplex. No dishwasher (sad face) but we can make it work.
I feel so much better knowing that when we move, we have somewhere to go. I had been struggling with the decision, but it will be so much better for everyone this way. AND Jack will have his own room. We likely won't have the money to do up a nice nursery for him at first, but we can slowly get piece at a time and he'll be out of our room. Plus, the bedrooms have adjoining doors, so he will be very close, and if we want, we can leave the door open so he can hear us. ![]()
Oh, and one more thing: no more carpet!! Goodbye nasty vaccuum that doesn't work well, hello Swiffer Mop!

Re: Update to Apartment sitch
YAAAAAY!!!!
That is so awesome! Jack is gonna be a big boy in his big boy room!
Is it close to Meep? You're still close enough to visit her, right?
Proud Mama to Mickey (12.03.09) and Nemo (06.06.13)
We will live roughly 20 minutes from her, which is the best part of the whole plan. It's about 30 minutes from my parents' house, and about a 5 minute walk from my building on Campus, and 3 minutes from the theater, where all my friends hang out all day, and Bun will probably do shows.
Meep said her housewarming gift to us (lol) would be curtains and rugs, since she knew we wouldn't buy them, and she thinks all homes should have curtains and carpets. Lol. Silly Meep. I
her.
I love Meep, too!
Question: Who doesn't love Meep? And, how? :P
Congratulations! I have a dishwasher and still end up doing a majority of our dishes by hand!
Good luck with the move.
Nat, that sounds great! A lot of our furniture was that cheap crap you buy when you get your first apartment, and after 5 moves in 3 years, it's all but worn out. A lot of it has been thrown out already, or will have to be when we move.
We have left: a bed, a desk, a chair with ottoman, 2 bookshelves, 2 end tables, some DVD racks, and 3 TVs. Why we need 3 TVs, I do not know, but we have them. If you think of any good places we can get affordable dressers, nursery furniture, or a sofa, let me know!
Annie, is Craigslist decent by you? I've found some decent furniture at nice prices and baby stuff. My SIL is a crazy Craigslist-er! She's found a gorgeous dining room table and living room furniture and the most adorable clothes for her daughter.
Congrats on the new place!!

If you become a regular craiglist stalker, you can find great deals on stuff ( non couch things, like dressers) I am guilty of becoming a CL stalker... I look first thing in the morning, and again at night
Everything has potential.. with a little paint and elbow grease!
