sterilizing DC's toys? what do you use?

my friend and her son came over yesterday and he was putting all of S's fake food in his mouth (she does the same thing)--anyway--my friend just emailed me that her son is sick today. what should I sterilize S's fake food with??

  • I either use anywhere spray or wash them in hot soapy water.

  • I use wet ones, or clorox wipes on them then rinse them in hot water.

  • I would probably just wash the toys in hot soapy water just like you would wash dishes.

  • I usually use a bleach solution.....like 10 to one...10 water, one percent bleach....then let the toys completely dry before using.

    However, I don't think most "bugs" live on dried out toys, so if his slobber has already dried, you probably have nothign to worry about.  I'm terrible at cleaning my toys...and only have done it when there is a plague in the house and no one seems to be getting better! 

  • If she already put them in her mouth more than likely she's already been exposed to the germs.  But you can soak them in water with a little bleach....I also use clorox clean-ups to quickly go over toys like that.

  • I would probably use bleach wipes or antibacterial wipes & let them air dry before you let DD play with them again.
