Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Q. from 3rd Tri. Anyone have a Boxer???

I  have a 6 month Boxer and just wanted to get some type of idea on what to expect. My Boxer is currently getting trained by someone that comes to our house. She is a great dog, but still a puppy. Just wanted to know if you have a Boxer, how old he/she is, and how are they doing with LO?

 TIA !!

  • I have a 7 year old boxer. He was hyper while a puppy but mellowed out as he grew up. He love to give our LO kisses but stops when we tell him to. He always lays right next to wherever she is. He does great with her! So does our 2 year old Belgian Malinois!

  • My boxer is 4 years old and does wonderful with DS. She was very interested in him at first and would go and sniff and occasionally lick but now she just acts like he is any other thing. She is very protective of him. If we lay DS in the crib and go downstairs, she sits at his door where she used to come sit with us. She also won't let anyone near the house now. She goes crazy, even if it someone we know.

At 6 months though, she was very playful and I would just be extra careful of leaving LO on the floor if she is out and running around.

  • Our boxer was 1 year old when DD was born. I was very concerened because of how hyper he is. We've taken him to classes, but we ended up not spending enouph time practicing with him so that made me even more nervous. I most worried about his jumping! When ever visitors come over he jumps and jumps and hes strong!

I was pleasently surprised at how he acts around DD. He still everyonce in a while gets a little too excited so we'll put him in the kitchen for a few minutes to calm down. But for the most part he's been amazing! He'll nose around her, but thats all. We are very carful still not to leave DD alone. Even though he's never ever been mean, he is too nice sometimes and could easily hurt her, if that makes sense.

  • I have a 5yr old Boxer and still acts like a puppy FYI. That IS the breed...if they aren't hyper then something is VERY wrong. My boxer though is really good with the baby...she just sniffs her and licks her but other than that has no real interest in her....My boxer actually is more interested in the baby's toys....i.e her Sophie and toys that make noise! keep those away from the dog or you may never see them again!lol

  • We have one, she's almost two.. She's hyper still but super good with Jack. If he cries she runs over to him to make sure he's ok. If someone knocks on the door or rings the doorbell she runs over to protect him. My only issue is she licks a little too much so we are working on that.
