Does any one else seem to have to change diapers more often when using cloth? Like, every hour, more often?
I know sposies are suppose to wick away moisture better, but this seems kind of ridiculous. I seriously think it's cutting into her naps. It *seems* like the days I've used cloth are the days she naps horribly. She'll wake up every 30 min-1 hour. She won't be hungry, but she'll be wet. I'll change her and she seems happy, but by that point she's already awake and won't go back to sleep.
I would be seriously disappointed if CD's are the culprit. I REALLY want to cloth diaper (it's kind of the only thing I'm set on) but if it is going to keep her from napping... Could it be their absorbency? I washed them 3-4 times before first use and have washed another one or two times since.
Re: changing more often in cloth?
Are you using prefolds? If so, it might be. I remember having to change Griffin an awful lot when he was in prefolds. Once we switched over to pocket diapers, we didn't have to change him as often.
:-)
Nope, no prefolds. We're using one size pockets.
If it's a build-up issue, you'll know because the insert won't be very saturated, or might even be dry. How are you washing your diapers?
:-)
ETA: if build up isn't the issue, maybe you could try stuffing with two inserts instead of one. I've had to do this with Jackson.

I don't think it is a build up issue because the inserts are usually soaked (I think she's a heavy wetter as well).
As far as washing them. I do a cold rinse, hot wash with 1/2 charlie's soap, cold rinse, then line dry. I hope it's not the wash 'cause I thought I was doing a pretty good job on that.
You know, I just started putting Tommy in cloth during his naps about two months ago. Before then, I would throw a disposable on him before putting him down.
My vote would be to use cloth throughout the day and disposable while sleeping.
Sleep is good.
How long was S sleeping before? We've had M in cd's from the beginning and I can only get about 2hr naps out of him. We had him in disposables for a few days and I did get a 3hr nap once or twice.
We usually have him in pf's w/a fleece liner. Last night DH doubled the pf and we got 2hrs 45min. I've also brought out some of my fitted, we're going to try those out to see if we can get some longer naps.
