BF and teething?

I am EBF my DD and I was curious what to do when she starts teething?  I know lots of women BF up till a year old, but how do you do it?  Sounds silly I know but can she bite?  I want to BF for as long as possible.  Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated!!

  • I'm curious to see the answers because I have wondered the same thing.

The only idea I could come up with was EPing at that point.

DD nipped a little at first (10 months), but is usually fine now (14 months). When she nipped then, it was usually at the end of the milk on each side. We are still going without any major problems at all. GL!
  • DS only has two bottom teeth so far, but yes, he does bite sometimes (usually when he is done).  Actually, even before he got teeth he would clamp down with his gums and wiggle his head.  Anyways, I just say "no" and remove him, try the other side, and if he does it again, end the nursing session.

  • DD has 2 teeth - the bottom front ones - but she has not bitten me yet.  I have heard that if they do bite, to pinch their nose so that they let go.
  • My DD has bit me a handful of times, only on the left (??). I tell her no & she has stopped every time...relatched & no biting.

  • Aubrey has had teeth for 3 months. She has 5 now with another coming in

She occasionally bites but it isnt horrible.(and usually only when a new tooth pops up)

When it happens I usually say OUCH! dont bite mommy loudly and take her off the boob for a few seconds... then relatch.

There was a slight learning curve with the top 2 teeth but it really wasnt too bad.  She learned quickly.
