Parenting after a Loss

Signed DD up for diaper dip . . ? about swim clothes for LO

I am so excited to take Catherine to her first swim class next weekend!  Apparently, when I was an infant I hated swim class.  I hope DD is different.  And I hope she doesn't want to nap when it is class time since it is a $67 class.

Question for moms with daughters- have you bought your baby a swim suit?  Where?  Did you buy something cute or a functional type that is like a shirt and shorts?

Also, any recs on good swim diapers?

  • I have a boy... but...we use cloth diaper covers.  They're cheap and cute!

  • We bought my DD a blow-up pool a week before her first swim lesson and she loves both (and bath time too)!

For swim lessons my DD wears a Huggies Swim diaper and a regular swimsuit over it, but for in the outdoor kiddy pool she wears a swim diaper with a sun shirt over it.

Be prepared for lots of singing songs in the pool, at least our YMCA does that and my DH is taking her, it's funny to watch!

I have been tossing the idea around of looking into cloth diapering.  DH isn't too thrilled about it, but every time I throw out a huge bag of DD's dirty diapers I feel so bad that it will be in a landfill forever.  DD is already contributing to environmental harm and she can't even crawl!

  • We had our first class last Saturday and she loved it.  We sang songs and splashed and practiced kicking.  At the end they had us put the babies/kids (there were some older kids too...like 3 yo) under water.  DH and I weren't sure at first but Mallory didn't mind at all!  Hope your LO enjoys too!

As for swim suit...she has three.  I'm trouble, I know.  Two are just one piece suits from Target -- Circo brand.  The third is a two piece tankini from old navy.  It's a little big on her though.  When we go to the beach next month, she has a terry cloth hooded cover up as well to help with the sun.

She wears Huggies swim diapers in class.  At home in her little pool I don't do a diaper.  I haven't tried Pampers swim diapers yet b/c I've had coupons for Huggies.

    Have fun!

  • Huggies swim dipes here, too. OneStepAhead.com has cute suits with SPF. That is where I got a suit for DS this year :)

  • N's is from Janie and Jack (courtesy of her Nana).  I think my mom also just bought her another one - she's terrible.  We have a couple of beach coverups too and a wide brim hat.  WE've used Huggies swim dipes and they worked well.
