Clomid 3-7 or 5-9??

I have been taking Clomid 5-9 per RE's instructions, but out of curiosity, why is it that Clomid is taken either cd 3-7 or cd 5-9?  Why is it not taken cd4-8?  And what are the differences between the different time frames?

    I'm starting clomid 3-7 this cycle. My RE indicated that it was becuase I have a short cycle normally (22-25 days).  Not sure why there seems to be no 4-8 option...i wondered that myself!

    I'm on it 3-10..talk about weird CDs.

    But, my OB (who prescribed my 1st 2 rounds on CD 5-9) told me the earlier you start in the cycle, the less likely there is to be multiples. But, that's the only time I've ever heard that. Seems that it would be the other way around...

    glad to hear someone else takes it longer. i take clomid cd 3-12. its the only way i get a response.

    lurking....

     I read that you can take it 4-8 or 2-6 if you want.  I did 5-9 on my first cycle and 3-7 on my second (which is what worked for me).

    I wondered this also I have short cycles but my doc had me take it 5-9
