We have a 2009 Toyota Rav-4 and LOVE it. I had a Honda CR-V before and loved it too. They are a great size and still get pretty good gas mileage. I have plenty of room for LO's stuff and I like sitting up high. Also, I have 4 wheel drive for our snowy winters here.
I drive a 2008 Saturn Outlook (comparible to the Traverse or Acadia) and absolutely love it. It has tons of room, 3 row seating...3rd row folds completely flat for extra cargo space. I've had it a year now and can't imagine driving a car with LO now.
I just got a 2011 Subaru Outback. I've only had it a couple weeks now, but I love it. We researched a ton of cars when we were looking, and I wanted something big enough for a couple kids and the dogs, but I didn't want a huge SUV. I like the feeling of a car, but having more room. This is perfect for us. Plus it's AWD which will be great when we move to CO next year!
We like our Jeep Patriot. I would only advise buying it if either you or your husband are short, otherwise the carseat will not fit behind the front seat.
Nissan Rogue. My sister has one and it is SOOOOOOOO comfy, has a ton of room. Only seats 5, so if you're looking for 3 rows it probably wouldn't be for you.
My MIL has an Escape and it has a great amount of space too.
I have a grand am, which you would think is a great family car....that is a lie. Riley's car seat barely fits in it, and Adriana's feet are constantly hitting my seat because she is too long for back...she's 7!
3 moths ago i was able to sell my 1 year old tahoe for what i owed on it. I bought a fully loaded 06 marono, best decision ever! im saving 300$ a month just in my payment, insurance also dropped.

Hyundai Santa Fe - love it! Has a great warranty too.
I have had mine for 3 years now and it hasn't had a single problem. Comfy and nice, and we have the AWD.
