Belly Bandit and Hipshrinx

I asked a question weeks ago about whether or not Hipshrinxx would really help hips go back to pre-pg size.  Everyone said no.  So, why do so many women think Belly Bandit works if it's the same concept?

Do either of these things work?

I don't see how either of them will work.

Tight clothing won't help melt the baby weight, fluid/blood/uterus/fat any faster then lose clothing.

    ::lurking from 3-6::

they dont really help, but i used the belly bandit to keep the pressure off my c/s scar when i wanted to wear pants... after about a month i just started using spanx so i wouldnt look so jiggily LOL. But if I were you I wouldnt invest in either of them and just use spanx if you are worried about your pp belly. HTH

  • I thought that the premise behind these wasn't to help with weight loss per se, but to help mold your hips back to a pre-pregnancy condition.  Something about how the relaxin (sp?) cause your hips to separate and move outwards during pregnancy and that these compression wraps could encourage them to move back together?

    Totally bogus?

I'm having a c-section so I bought an abdominal binder from Walgreens - It's pretty much the exact same thing, except it's specifically for post-surgery.  This is what one website says about it:

"...improves blood circulation, minimizes swelling after the procedure, flushes the body out of potentially harmful fluids, accelerates the healing process, and allows the patient to return to daily routines sooner."

    HTH

  • I have no idea. I have a fairly wide abdominal seperation and have been told by two PTs in the family that a compression device (along with special exercises after 6 weeks PP) will help bring them back together and prevent a pooch long term, but I don't think they'd necessarily be useful to most women.

As for hips, PP you do still have looser joints, so it would seem feasible to me that a compression device might help pull things back in place while they're still loose. But I don't really see how the belly one would work unless there is an abdominal seperation you're trying to repair.

  • both products are based on sound principles and neither have anything to do with lossing weight the shrinxxhips product only works for the first 8 weeks post partum to help your hips move closer together after they move apert during pregnancy the reason they work is that your body still has enough relaxin to help your body readjust

the belly bandits purpose is to cause your tissues to bind more tightly together after pregnancy has streched you out and to put pressure on your uterus to to encourage it to tighten faster

nether product is for weight loss it is about reshaping your body during weight loss after it has been streched out

i plan on useing the belly bandit after this baby is born but i am perfectly happy with my hips the way they are

  • I used both on my last pregnancy. I was told that your hips will never go back to the way they were before pregnancy, I used the hipshinx for the first 8 weeks post pregnancy and my hips were 1 inch smaller than before the pregnancy. I liked the concept of the belly bandit but found it too bulky, this baby I used a surgical corset and I am only 5 days after my second c section and its making a huge difference, So as I write this I have both garments on and they give me support and results, I totally found them worth it.

I bind and my hips went down to the exact same as before baby. I have no clue if it was from that.

I do it more for this. It does help with diastasis recti.

But just like most people have line where your underwear sit. It is the same concept. Fat will find somewhere else to settle except where there is constant pressure. The problem is if you take the spanx off it will eventually just go back there
  • What would be a good product to help support your back and abdominal muscles after baby comes?
  • I use either spanx, target brand or a post partum support belt from motherhood
