Question for moms with baby girls

Tonight, when I had Tegan in the bathtub, I noticed that her outer vaginal lips were a little bit red. She's had some diaper rash on her bottom just below her vagina, but it's almost completely cleared up and was never on her vagina. What should I do for this situation? Should I just leave it alone and keep an eye on it? Should I take her into the pediatrician?

Any ideas?

  • I would use some aquaphor and see how it looks in the morning.

  • I just use desitin up there too, and it goes away within a day.

  • We had this situation a few weeks ago. I have to say that I am a firm believer in vaseline. When DD came home from the NICU she got a horrible diaper rash. Her pedi said at every diaper change to wipe the area down and let it dry then to put vaseline on it. It cleared up in two days. In this particular situation though, it took a good 3-4 days to clear up. HTH!

  • I use the Up & Up diaper rash cream in the purple box.... I think its like A+D cream.  We just had this same issues over the weekend, and it cleared up by the next day.

  • Lily gets that too, but hers is more heat rash because she is such a hot baby. We use California Baby and also vaseline sometimes.
  • Looks like the question has been well covered, I just had to comment how adorable everyones DD's are!!!
