I hate disposable wipes

and tomorrow we're starting cloth wipes. I have everything in place, I just have to get the wipe spray made up, and then we're good to go. hooray! I hate stupid disposable wipes that are hard to separate and because we're CDing we have to put them in the garbage not the wet bag and it's just a pain.

just had to get that out. thanks.Big Smile

Re: I hate disposable wipes

  • Another perk to look forward to is that I usually only need 2 cloth wipes to change a poop diaper- when I ahd to change one out and about with only disposables once it took like 12! Eek! Cloth is so much more effective!

  • Yippee!  FYI, we usually just use water with our wipes.  I do have some CA Baby Diaper Area Wash that I use when she is a bit red, but if your BFing then you can just use water most of the time...

I'm on the fence of whether to use plain water or just add a touch of lavender and tea tree oil, which I've heard people do...

    thanks for the solidarity!

  • ohhh yes it's SO much nicer. I have a case of wipes unopened that I'm thinking of returning to Costco since I love my cloth ones SO much! They are so much softer, more effective and you can wet them to your liking. Never too wet or not wet enough and they don't leave that wipe smell and "grease" on your hand or the baby booty! :)

  • Yay!  I love cloth wipes, too.  We used disposable wipes for a little while during our month of disposables and I was so glad to be done with sposie diapers and wipes.  I hate how they feel, I hate how they smell.  And I usually only need one cloth wipe to take care of DD now :)
  • you will love them!  we just use water as well and use the prince lionheart cloth wipes warmer.

we use disposable wipes in our diaper bag still as i haven't been able to yet convince dh that cloth wipes on the go are possible (wtf right?) and we haaaaaaate using them.  he was just complaining about how they don't actually clean and just mush around the poo yesterday trying to change dd at the pedi's yesterday.

and as a total aside, i grew up a few towns over from you in granby!  :-)

  • Just the post I was looking for! What kind of wipes are you guys using? Any rec. for really good ones? I will have three in diapers (two newborns and a one year old), so how many should I buy to keep on hand?? I plan to order mine today or tomorrow!!! Yay, can't wait to hop on over to CD wipes either!
  • i love my cloth wipes :-) i have most of mine from bububebe, but i recently got some for DD from primm and proper baby (i think?) and they are nice too. i like the sherpa on one side. i use either CA diaper area wash or thirsties booty luster in a spray bottle. i like them both
  • my favorites are 1-ply flannel from SMAJE on hyenacart.  i think we have somewhere around 36 total wipes which seems just enough that we aren't ever concerned of running out of clean ones with the frequency we do diaper laundry (every other day)

I (am about to) use cheap baby washcloths. I got the idea here on this super helpful site and I'm hoping those will do, since they are nice and cheap!
