Babies: 6 - 9 Months

ok.. just shoot me

So DH and i have been trying to lose weight. I've seriously cut down on what and how much I eat. DH has lost 30 lbs!!!!!!!!  and I think I've freakin gained 2. Are you F'N KIDDING ME?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  And to top it off he now weighs less than me. Thats just not right.

Re: ok.. just shoot me

  • guys burn double the calories we do..even if we are doing the exact same thing..It's just the way it is! They naturally have more muscle mass than women & muscle burns more calories than fat..so we're f-ed!!  LOL

GL & Keep it up...it will start to come off!  It takes a good 3 months to really start to show results, but I swear if you are exercising & eating a well balanced meal, it will start to come off!

(Just slip some extra butter in your DH's food in the meantime!  LOL Devil)

  • My DH currently only weighs 15-20 lbs more than me. I really, really need to lose some weight (the 100 Grand bars I bought today aren't going to help), but if I ended up weighing more than DH I know it would depress me.

I commend your DH and you for trying to lose weight. It's not an easy task and it's that much more difficult when your DH is losing faster than you. Are you following a particular diet program? Are you eating the same things and same quantities as your DH? Unfortunately, as women, we are not able to eat the same things and quantities as men and still lose weight. I'd suggest that you find a program like weight watchers or something similar and only pay attention to the weight and successes that you have and not your DH's weight and successes.

  • LOL @ slipping him some butter. That's a good one. I'm not following a particular program but I've considerably cut down on carbs, I've cut my portions down and I've added more fruits and veggies. I've switched to eating yogurts or baby carrots or a cheese stick instead of snacking on crackers or chips. Also, any type of cracker or chip I do eat I've separated into portion bags. What really bothers me is I was 250 when I graduated high school and I lost 90 lbs changing how I ate. Now, I'm 220 and eat NOTHING like I did when I was 250. No fast food or cakes or any junk at all. I haven't had any fast food in over 10 years. So it's even more frustrating because for what I eat, there's no reason why I should weigh this much. One problem though is I don't get to exercise regularly. I try to but it's been hard to fit it in with the LO.  All I know is I can't take being this weight much longer. :(
  • Yeah, I'm currently 215, which is the highest weight I've ever been. Plus, I've never carried this much weight in my stomach, I've always carried my weight throughout my whole body. I joined weight watchers today, which is what helped me lose 45 lbs when I was a sophomore in college. At that time I got down to 145 lbs and I'd love to be at that weight again. However, my short term goals are to first- get under 200 lbs and second- get down to 170 lbs and be able to find a decent pair of jeans.
