1st Trimester

Did anyone use the ovulation tests when trying?

Did you get pregnant using these?

I got a positive morning and night for 7 days straight! What does this mean!? ?

Curious if anyone experienced anything like this...

  • Sorry don't know why this posted twice and it won't let me erase!

  • Yes, I used them.  Are you sure you're reading them correctly?  They are only positive if the test line is as dark or darker than the control line.

  • I used Clear Blue Easy Digital OPK and got pregnant our first try.

I'm not sure what that means because ovulation does not last for 7 days.  Maybe it's not working properly?

  • The longest I have got a positive was 3 days. On this cycle it only lasted 1 day.

Are you sure the line is as dark as/darker then the control line?

  • Yeah, they were both bright...and I have used them before and only got a positive for 2 days...and got pregnant right away, the first time... now I'm trying again and I have no idea what's up with this...and now I have no idea when I was supposed to have sex or what?! So strange...
  • It was definitely dark because the first two days I had two lines but one was lighter and then for 7 days they were both bright/dark... ?I got the first positive on day 13 and it lasted until day 19...
  • Do you chart? Have you had a temp spike? OPK's only detect LH in your system. Without charting you have no conformation.

You can talk with your OB about it and see what they say.

Do you pay attention to your CM? If you are seeing egg white looking mucus and seeing a positive ovulation test, then that would be the place to start! Good luck!

  • Thanks everyone! I haven't started tracking or anything but if this doesn't pan out then I will get more involved I guess...
  • Yes, I used the CVS brand and we got pregnant first try with them.

  • I also used the clearblue ovulation tests and got pregnant on the first try.
We did have sex every day though, so that prob helped more than the tests ;-) I got a positive 2 days in a row, so Im not quite sure what the 7 consecutive days could mean
  • Me too. We used OPK tests for the first 3 months. I never thought I was reading them right either, but this last time, I got a positive for 3 days and apparently that worked. Party!!! Just make sure you make loootss of love whenever the line MIGHT be pink. DH's seem to like that... Good Luck!
  • I used both the First Response and the Clear Blue Easy digital ones.  I did not like the first response ones so that is why I went with the digital ones and got pregnant the first time using the digital ones.
  • I used Clear Blue Easy Digital OPK and got pregnant our first try with DS. Once I got the happy face I stopped peeing on them. This time guessimated and here we are again.

  • OPKs tell you when your body is gearing up to O. To actually see if you Oed you'll need to temp or have ultrasounds (not common unless you have an IF dx). What this means for you is that if you are reading the test correctly is that your body seems to be having an extended "gear up" time.  If this happens over the course of several months you should talk to your doctor. I have the opposite problem--my LH surge was so short that I could only register a positive if I used OPKs multiple times per day. So not worth it when temping is free once you pay for the thermometer! (My issue also tied to an IF issue that was later diagnosed.)
  • We used them.  We used a lot of different things as well, but this was one of the things that I think helped us!  I ovulate like clockwork, but also had very long stretches of time when I got positives every day.  From what I understand, you get a positive when you are about to ovulate.  So from the first day you get a positive, that's when you're ready to ovulate at any moment.  Anything after that is just a long LH surge - it can last for a few days AFTER you ovulate.  But once you see the positive, you will ovulate soon.  It's not like you see the positive and then don't ovulate for a week after that.  I hope that makes sense! :)
  • Thanks everyone! Don't know if you'll see this again but guess what...I'm pregnant! :)
