Where do you like to go for fireworks? We are trying to plan - usually we head up to Cedar Park and go with my brother - we're looking for other ideas this year.
Does anyone know of anything fun to do with a 1-year-old in tow?
You can see the Pflugerville fireworks from our house, so we just stay home. (They launch from Lake Pflugerville.)
Related question: what are y'all (the whole board, not just the OP) planning on doing with the babes? Keep them up late to see the bombs going off and hope that they don't freak the eff out due to loud noises and being kept up two hours later than usual? Put them to bed at the normal time and hope the 'works don't wake them up?
One year we went to Zilker with our tent and folding chairs and had a blast. That was before baby but my friend had a crawling baby and it was still fun for all. We did Cedar park last year but didn't stay for teh fireworks (the baby was about 4mths then and thought the npise might be a bit loud. This year I think we'll set up a blanket and chairs and see if he'll last till 9. He usually goes to bed at 7pm.

Last year we went to a party at a friend's house and A slept through everything. Granted, she was only a couple weeks old but it was no big deal.
I'm not planning on letting A stay up to watch the fireworks. It gets dark so late and she goes to bed so (relatively) early that it would be more trouble than it's worth to keep her up.
ETA: If we make actual plans that will keep us out of the house, I'm not going to force her to sleep...if she's awake, she's awake. I'm just going to be prepared for her to a) sleep where we are or b) lose her shiit and we have to go home to put her to bed.

We're gonna keep Luke up as late as we can. If he makes it to see 'em great, if not that's cool too. We're going with our Disney approach--keep him up and active, and if he gets tired he'll crash in his stroller. Though we're not sure where we'll be just yet.
As for the bangs...we were practically right underneath the nightly fireworks show at Disney and they never bothered Luke. That could be because we wore.him.out. during the day, though.
we're doing fireworks at our house this year and we can usually see the ones from the park at our house too. It is too late by the time it gets dark and I'd rather not have the boys trying to run around the yard in the pitch black, so we'll put them to bed at their normal time and know that they won't hear a thing.
We are going to see Cory Morrow and watch them in Buda. DD is a night owl so she will be up anyway. My exH and his family are coming in town (and staying with us) so we will all go together.
