Trying to Get Pregnant

playing soccer and TTC

I was just wondering if any of you ladies are playing sports while TTC? I play soccer (house league - once per week) and I was just wondering when we do get pg - will it be okay to continue playing for the first little while? Or am I best to stop right away?

Re: playing soccer and TTC

  • I play softball and volleyball and am TTC. I figure it's healthy exercise for me either way and it's no worse than going to the gym (softballs less than going to the gym) so their's no reason to stop right away. When I get pregnant if I am in the middle of a season I will most likely finish it out but once I start showing and the baby is pushing my body outward I'll quit. I have a friend who played softball up until 7 months so it can be done.

OF COURSE this will all be run across my doctor though and make sure they agree, which unless there are problems, most will.

  • That makes perfect sense. My biggest concern is because soccer can get a little bit rough sometimes and this is my first year playing on a co-ed team.
  • You will be fine until you get a bfp.  Then call your doctor.  Mine would absolutely not let me play soccer or softball or anything where there could be contact. But until then, for the first few weeks, you are fine.

  • Awesome! Thank you ladies for the advice and I will definitely put a call into my doc when I get my BFP!!!

    Thanks so much!

  • Oh I didn't even think about the contact part. Yeah I think I'd bow out of soccer, especially Co-ed, those guys can get a little crazy. Both my volleyball and softball teams are coed but really don't have a contact aspect since the rules are changed a little so no one gets hurt. Im more likely to take a ball to the face than an elbow to the stomach!
