Checked into L&D...

and they don't know what they're going to do with me.

I've been here since Thursday. Thursday morning DH and I got up, got cleaned up, went to an MFM appointment and by the time we got there my BP was 153/102, I was seeing spots, and had a headache like none other. This always happens when I leave the house, so of course it lands me in L&D for monitoring. I get put on strict bed rest and all my numbers come down and look great, and they usually let me go home within a day or two.

This time is different. Our OB told me I'm here until at least Monday, or until we deliver, she hasn't decided. She considered inducing on Thursday, but has decided to hold off until Tuesday (34 weeks) to make that call. Some nurses say we're going home tomorrow. Some nurses think I'll be admitted for the next 2-3 weeks, some think we'll be induced on Tuesday. Honestly, I don't know what's happening to me. I guess I have to wait until tomorrow to see the OB again to get the game plan.

I'm kind of going crazy here. Hospital strict bedrest is for the birds.

  • I am sorry you are suck on hospital bed rest! I hate regular bed rest so I can't imagine how boring it must be.

Good luck with your OB tomorrow! I hope you get a game plan from her so you at least know what to expect.

  • Ugh, hospital bed rest is the worst.  I was on it for almost 3 weeks and it was dreadful.  I wish you all the best!  On the bright side, you are almost 34 weeks!  I made it to 34 weeks myself and it worked out well in the end, despite baby staying a few days in the NICU.  Good luck and hang in there!
  • I had a similiar problem with pregnancy #1. I was checked into hospital for 4 days at 33 weeks while they "waited" until 34 weeks. there was talk of keeping me in hospital until delivery, and bla bla blah.. they wouldn't tell me I was going home until the day of (which made getting someone to come pick me up, nearly impossible!) Soooo... keep us posted and I wish you the best of luck!!

Send DH out to get you lots of goodies to keep yourself busy while your in the hospital... or sleep! I know thats what I would do. =)

  • Not knowing the game plan is probably making the hospital bedrest even worse. However, 34 weeks is really awesome, so breathe easy (as best you can) and try to go with the flow.  This baby business and the patience involved can make us crazy!

  • Hospital bedrest stinks (and I was only in for 3 weeks) until they decided to deliver. I know it sucks, but you would be much better monitored in the hospital than at home, and pre-e can be fatal to both you and the baby if you are not closely monitored. Everyday is 2 days not in the NICU for your baby, and you do not want to be there. GL - stay strong

  • Thank you ladies for the words of encouragement! We had some family up here today and it was a nice change to being just the two of us. Fingers crossed we get a game plan tomorrow (any game plan is better than not knowing) and my mom offered to stay with me an extra day so DH can go get some work done!
