Am I missing something?

What is the appeal of NASCAR?  I swear it's like a religion to some people and I can't wrap my head around it.

    Nope! I don't get it either. Our one and only country station devotes air time to airing the race over the radio. I get so upset and fed up with it because it's my only station that I consistently love the songs on. And I almost always get caught where the cd book is under the seat out of reach. ::fumes at local country station playing NASCAR on the radio::

    i love it. most people are shocked by that because i am a very un-NASCAR type of person. but, i grew up going to auto racing (not just NASCAR) with my family because my dad loves it and went with his dad. so, for me its just always been this family thing. and my dad had connections so we got to meet drivers and ride in cars when i was little so as a kid that's just fascinating. now when i go to races it is just about being with my family. i don't watch on tv, but i have a love for it live

    Idk either, but I really wish DH's uncle would turn the channel. Ugh. This is the one part I hate about staying here on weekends.

    Hippi - Funny you should say that...a friend of ours who is a college professor wrote a book about NASCAR 'as' religion. He's a religious studies professor.

    I just don't get it...but then again some people hate to cook and that is where I find the most peace.  Different strokes for different folks.
