3rd Trimester

If you are having a girl

any of you still worried it might be a boy?

I know I am, only because we have soooo many dresses and girl clothes right now.

We were told the techs have never been wrong and wouldn't have said it was a girl if they had any doubt, but I'm still worried.

Granted, I just want the baby to be here and be healthy; I don't care if it's a boy or girl really.  I just have all those cute clothes in her closet!  If it's a boy, he'll spend his first few months in dresses.  Stick out tongue

Re: If you are having a girl

  • Haha...I am in the same boat as you!  Except the tech told us she couldn't be 100% sure, but she saw the lines that indicated labia.  We are going back for another ultrasound just to be sure before ordering our PINK crib set!

You can always get a 3d ultrasound just to make sure!!

  • I was just looking through my friend's u/s pictures and there was the between the legs shot with three lines that they told us meant GIRL - but then they did a lot more pictures with her and they are actually having a BOY. I am excited that they told me girl, my hubby is hoping and praying that it's a boy... but I don't want to get my hopes up after I saw that. I know what you are feeling...

  • I was told boy at 15w6d so I do have that little nagging fear in the back of my mind. However, our "boy" ultrasound was with a 3D place and was SUPER early to do a gender determination, and the "girl" ultrasound was during our 20 week at the perinatologist's office, with much better quality equipment and a more highly trained sonographer (and the perinatologist with decades of experience also came in and confirmed girl). We went back to the 3D place at 21 weeks for a free re-scan for us and they also confirmed girl, so I'm not too worried. I'm saving the packaging for all of the pink stuff I've purchased, though!

I am nervous too!  Most everything we bought and registered for was gender nuetral (so it can be used for multiple kids), but the clothes (bought as gifts - we've been very restrained) are all pink :)

    TTC #2 since April 2012

    Year 1 - nothing

    Year 2 - two m/c

    Year 3 - unexplained diagnosis & 4 failed IUIs with Clomid/Letrozole

Year 4 - still unexplained & 3 failed IUIs with Follistim & Ovidral

Year 5 - trying on our own

  • Every stranger who approaches me about my pregnancy is like "So you're having a boy?"  It's crazy, we've been told girl and saw the 3 lines that indicated the labia, but I'm getting a little nervous now.  The baby's room is orange, white & yellow, and everything else is pretty girly.  My husband likes to take tags off things, so all of the clothes cannot be returned.  We're getting another ultrasound next Thursday so hopefully we can confirm it!

No. My ob-gyn said that he has not yet predicted the sex of a baby wrong, and he's been doing this for over 25+ yrs.

i have seen DS's twig and berries on two ultrasounds, and i'm still worried he'll be a girl! i did the same thing with Izzie. went so far as to bring two going home outfits...one girly and one neutral!

  • I think I should be good! Our first u/s at 18 weeks was at my doctors office and they said it was hard to tell cause LO was too small then, bu they said 75% it was a girl. Then we had a 3D u/s at 21 weeks at another place and they gave us several clear pictures of the 3 lines and there was no mistaking, she said it was 100% a girl! At that place they said if they told you the wrong gender, they will give you a $100 gift certificate to buy new clothes. Anyways I had a growth u/s a week and a half ago at my docs office and tried to confirm it, but since my LO is breech they couldn't see down there. I'm confident it's still a girl though. I have a pink bedroom and closets and drawers of pink clothes, lol!

  • Yes. Event though they were "sure" they never got (in my opinion) a completely clear money shot. My best friend, who just had a girl, told me that our U/S pictures look the same (and they do) but...still....

Even though all the clothes are certainly for a girl, I erred on the side of caution with the nursery and it's pretty gender neutral except for some of the artwork.

  • I feel the same way. The tech we had that did our sono has only been wrong once in 20 years so I shouldn't have anything to worry about right? If it is a boy I don't want to have all these dresses that he could never wear lol.

This is what my OB said about my tech...  She's been there over 20 years and has never been wrong.

    I'm still worried.

  • I'm kind of worried, but only because we went all out with girly stuff. This is our last baby so I didn't feel a need to do much neutral. Granted most of the major gear can go either way, but all of the clothes and little stuff is pink and purple and feminine. If she is actually a boy we'll have some shopping to do, LOL.
  • Worried, no.  In the back of my mind, oh yes.  Before our 20 week u/s, my mom just gave me a little warning about a couple she knows who were told they were having a girl but it was really a boy.  They had gone all out - I mean, never even considered it would be a boy (and why would they?), clothing, pink crib, pink room, pink car seat, never even discussed boy names, etc.  When they had baby and it was a boy, they were happy of course for a healthy baby, but really grieved the "loss" of the little girl they thought they were having. She said it affected them deeply, and in many ways.

So, we're just being cautious in our minds, at least.  We've discussed our name choices for a boy, discussed our thoughts on circumcision, etc.   I'm thankful for my mom's dose of reality - I can't imagine having that surprise in the delivery room, and then on top of it having to make a snap decision on such matters as our child's name and whether or not to circumcise.  yikes...

  • Nope. I am positive it's a girl. I was even before we had the big u/s.

This.  I even packed two outfits for the hospital, one pink and one green, just in case.  I refuse to take the tags off of the really frilly dresses until she is actually here.

this is me as well. DS called it right away and would actually get angry if people said "What if you have a brother?"  He said he refused to have a brother and would only have a little sister. He was right :-)

Not to mention we have had it confirmed at least 4 times. (including a u/s just last week.. ALL girl).

DH's family on the other hand......

  • Absolutely not. We've had an u/s every 4 weeks since 19 weeks and she's a girl every single time!

  • I actually always bring a gender neutral sleeper just in case.  My mom spent the whole time I was pushing with DD#1 saying "wouldn't it be funny if it was a boy".  yeah she's not going to be in the room this time lol.

  • I've had two friends call me this week telling me about dreams they had in which I had a boy. I don't want to hear it!
  • Yes, I keep telling DH that we should think of a boys name just in case. He just thinks that I am crazy.
  • Nah we've seen her labia on 5 different occasions now, so pretty sure we're good to go!
  • ME!!  I wouldn't mind if we have a boy, but he would sure wear a lot of 'girly' clothes for the first few months, lol.
