Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Who has had alone time yet?

Im almost 3 weeks pp and I literally have not had a break from my lovely 2 yo daughter and my easy to handle son. Im getting the itch to do something not kid friendly but feel bad thinking about it like im still pregnant. But obviously I'm NOT. When did you deside to give yourself some alone time?

Re: Who has had alone time yet?

  • How much time are we talking about?  At 2 weeks PP I went for a haircut and then DH and I went to a wedding at about 4 weeks and we spent the night :)  Don't feel badly about going out for yourself.  You deserve it!

  • Last night was my DH and I's first baby free evening (4 weeks pp). It was his birthday and we had friends over to our house while my parents kept the kids.

  • I made an appointment today for a pedi, eyebrow wax, and hair cut for the 6th....I can not wait!  If I had an older one like you do I would have probably already done it!
  • For something fun? I went and had a mani/pedi last weekend. I try and get out of the house alone for a little bit each day though, even if it's just to go for a drive. DH is good about watching DD for a bit in the evenings when he gets home so I can get out of the house and not go stir crazy.
  • I'm 6 weeks PP and all I've done is get 2 pedi's, oh and I've been able to to go grocery shopping by myself Indifferent (I guess my DH thinks that's a cool thing to do)? I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to just go out with the girls one evening, party and drink like before...but there's no way I'm leaving DD this early.
  • DH and I have had 3 evenings alone, but I haven't had any time of my own yet (at 11wk pp). DH will watch DS when he is home while I cook or take a bath, and at first that was enough, but now I'm starting to go crazy. We just moved to this state and I don't have any close friends yet, so I'm trying to figure out things to do away from the family before I lose my mind.

I so know we all deserve a night out I just find it hard. Literally the most excitment that I've gotten lately without any kids was when I had an appointment for my eyes for glasses (awesome I know). I would love just one night out without the kids to re-discover my less responsible side. haha.

ugh, I can see how that can be so hard especially without any girlfriends to hang with. I hope you figure out a plan soon enough cause personally I would be going ape *** on my hubby from boredom.

LOL Yeah I pretty much am going ape *** at this point. Esp since my dad is terminal across the country so I'm trying to help mom emotionally from here....it is crazy. I have friends coming to visit and meet LO in a few weeks and we're going out one night without hubby or baby! I can't wait!

  • DH sent me to my room to go to sleep tonight and that has been the extent of my alone time.  I did get 6 beautiful hours of sleep though.
  • dh and i went to lunch and saw a movie (yeah, toy story 3, we're that awesome to go to a kids movie on our date afternoon)  yesterday. i cried when i left her at my moms :(

other than that, it's just been a few random running to the store while dh is with her.

  • At 2 weeks I went and got a pedicure. At 1 month DH and I went out for date night and at 6 weeks I had GNO. I missed LO each time but it was so worth it feeling like an independent person for a few hours and letting loose. GL!
  • I waited waaay too long for alone-time. Last week was the first time I left the house without one or both of my kiddies. Yikes. I EBF, so I had to wait until my boobs weren't ready to explode after 1-2hrs anyway, but MAN was I ready to get out.
  • I EBF but I sitll got alone time around 2 weeks. I planned it around her eating (left right after I fed her) and that gave me 2 hours. Plus, I pumped once a day to build a stash so I had frozen BM in case DH needed it.

DH and I had our first date night at 3 weeks. We just went out to dinner so we weren't gone long. My mom watched her.

  • Not yet and I'm going stir crazy.  Hoping to get a haircut, pedicure, and wax soon, preferably before I go back to work in August.

My alone time is my gym time!!! For an hour a day I drop Colin at Grandma and Grandpas.... It has really helped me stay sane...

  • Other then take a shower I have yet to do anything without LO. I tried to suggest to DH that he watch LO for a few minutes while I made a quick trip to the store and he almost had a brain hemorrhage at the thought of it. I am hoping to start her on cereal soon ( I EBF) and then maybe I will be able to get in some me time. All I want is to get a nice relaxing pedi.

Just an FYI, cereal doesn't replace BM. She'll still BF the same.

Plus, (just in case you weren't aware) if you BF you aren't supposed to introcduce solids until 6 months (unless there are reflux issues).

    DH needs to man up!
