3rd Trimester

Are there different types of pepcid?

I'm ready to rip my throat out.  Really.

Tums and Zantac have not worked well.

Is there more than one type of pepcid?  Are there different strengths or only certain strengths we can have?

DH is at his part time job and will be out in about 20 minutes.  I NEED to text him and have him bring me home something new to try before I go out of my mind with burning discomfort at the back of my throat.

TIA.

Re: Are there different types of pepcid?

  • I've been taking the generic for Maximum Strength Pepcid AC.  It's Famotidine 20mg.  It was prescribed by my OB.

I take it every morning with my other vitamins and have been on it for almost 3 months.  I've only had bouts of acid reflux maybe one night a week, and it's small enough to kick with Tums and a glass of water.  Totally worth it.

I don't know if it'll help you tonight, because I think it's a preventative thing, but it's been working wonderfully for me.

Batman likes to watch cartoons on the weekends. Whatever.

  • FYI -- Pepcid is often what they put little babies (six weeks or less, even) on when they have reflux, so it is perfectly safe to take now.  I take the 20mg myself now and then with this pregnancy, and DD was on it for about the first six months of her life due to reflux.

Pre-e w/DD #1 -- now age four! GD and PIH w/DD#2 -- now age two! GD and unexplained third trimester bleeding with baby # 3 -- due Feb 27!
  • I take one chewable Pepcid Complete every morning and that seems to work. Rarely will I have to take more than that a day. There may be a day here and there that I may have to take a Tums before bed but other than that...it's worked wonders for me.

    Just look online.

I'd go with the maximum strength.
