So, a young couple with a little girl about 5 or 6 years old moved in across the street from me last week.  I went over there and officially introduced myself today...  and learned that the girl's name is Zelda.

I didn't say anything to my neighbors about her name, of course, but internally I couldn't stop thinking about the old Nintendo game and its theme song.

    Yeah, that would be my first thought too. Although F. Scott Fitzgerald's wife was named Zelda.

    Yeah, I'd think the video game.  Or (and yes I know this shows my exact age) Sabrina's aunt in "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch."

    I know 2 little girls named Zelda and think it's kind of cute. One's mother is a writer and the other is a librarian. Both are named after F. Scott Fitzgerald's wife, I believe.

    Well, despite the associations, it is, in fact, a real name. I don't like it and wouldn't use it, but I'm willing to celebrate the fact that she isn't named Zenoth or Zaphod.

    DH suggested this name, as he's a huge fan of the game.  It's actually a nice game, but there's no way I could use it because of the game, especially when that's the whole reason why DH likes it.  He wants Link for a boy. Sigh.

    i think of the mom's sister in pet sematary (the one that lived in the attic). wasn't her name zelda?  she creeped me out!
