So when most of my friends have had babies (not many mind you, but a few) they were all from my sorority in college, and since we were all still broke, hand made gifts were the rule. Our sorority was HUGE on crocheting, so new babies were guarenteed mountains of baby blankets and hats and booties and you name it.
When my friend Joy had her baby shower, I was resolutely not going to crochet her anything, having learned my lesson before and expecting that she would get a million blankets and such.
I found out later that she didn't get any hand made baby blankets. Not one! This is a travesty in my opinion. So I offered to make her a really adorable blanket.
It's about 3/4 of the way finished, the baby is already here (3 weeks old) and every time I go to pick it up to work on it, I cry.
::sigh:: Anyone wanna finish this for me?
(sorry that was long)
Re: s/o baby showers: Guilt
I don't think you should feel guilty. That would be an impossible thing to do and I think you are a great friend for doing it. I say take all the time you need to finish it, she will understand.
(((hugs)))
If I knew how to crochet I would help
