We have a wedding to go to. We are flying so I am a little nervous about that. I thought it could be nice to grab lunch with some bumpies
?
Any travel tips for flying with LO? We are checking her stroller/car seat so we have it. I told the hotel we needed a crib but I wonder if it will be junk. DD might end up in a bed I guess...How about flying tips? Airport tips? I am going to hopefully be mostly BFing because I dont want to take my pump. I am sure we will need to supplement some.
Re: Going to Baltimore/DC area :-) travel tips for LO?
She'll do great. When we fly with LO, I sit in the window seat and DH sits in the middle so I have a *bit* more privacy to BF (I also use a nursing cover). The first time we flew I BF her during take off and landing to make sure she didn't have any ear issues (she didn't). Now I just feed her when it's time to eat or if she fusses. I would take a blanket or small pillow to stick under your arm for BF or if LO sleeps (which is likely because the vibration/hum of the plane put my LO right to sleep after she ate) so your arm doesn't get crazy tired/sore on the armrest. Our flights have all been relatively short so luckily I haven't had to change a diaper on the plane yet, which is my big fear! Not sure whether you're planning to desk check or gate check your stroller and carseat, but I suggest desk checking it downstairs and just having LO in a Bjorn or other carrier. So much easier to get through security and load/unload that way. GL!
She'll do great! We flew with DD last week and she was awesome - I think this is a really good age to travel with them. She needed to eat before boarding, so I didn't even nurse her when we took off. Just bring a paci (if your LO takes one), that helped her fall asleep on the plane. I generally just laid her on my lap and played with her - she loved it.
Check your airline's policy on gate checking car seat and stroller, they all vary a little. We flew airtran and they were awesome - we were able to gate check both.
I did bring my pump since I EBF and was going to be away from DD for 24 hours of our trip. It travels well (I have a PISA) and the quick steam bags were great. If you supplement, you probably don't need to bring it, just something to consider if you need to pump before/during that wedding.
I live like 30 minutes from Baltimore and would love to GTG. We're headed to the beach on the 17th though and we'll probably leave on the 16th to stay at my parents over night. Bummer!
Also, if you are concerned about the crib situation and don't want to cosleep I've heard good things about travel beds/pods: https://www.kidco.com/main.taf?p=4,5
They fold up super small. This is how my boss's SIL traveled with her triplets.
I am excited too! I hope we can work something out
