What do you all think about the name Mae?

I love classic names and this one is at the top of my list. Is it too short for a full first name? Also, do you think people would hear it and spell it Mae or May? I prefer the "e" ending. Just for reference- not expecting!

    One of my middle names is Mae after my Dad's favorite Aunt, my MIL's mn is Mae and so is one of DH's cousin's. I love the name and plan on using it in some way if we have a girl in the future. I think it is a beautiful, simple, classic first name.

    our next DD will have the middle name May (or Mae). We are using it because it is a family name and it's less common than Rose, Lynn, Marie, Ann etc. I think it's difficult to use as a FN but as a MN there isn't really a spelling issue... it's a MN.

    It's totally cute, although I kinda prefer it as a middle name.

    Honestly- I really like Mae. Its simple.

    I like it. We're considering it more for a mn, but I like it as a first name too.

    I would spell it Mae. To me, Mae is the name and May is the month.

    I like it a lot, but all I think about personally anymore when I hear it is music.  There is a band called Mae (for "Multi-sensory Aesthetic Experience") so I wouldn't use it myself because I'd feel like I was naming my child after the band.  If it's a family name or you just like it and it sounds good with the rest of the name, then use it - it's sweet and simple.

    I prefer it for a middle name.  I think something like Addison Mae is just too cute.

    I have a cousin named May, and I think it's so cute. But she says she wishes it was spelled Mae- that's what everyone thinks it is. But I think it's very pretty as a first name!
