STTN And Increased Daytime Feedings-FF

DS has started STTN pretty consistently now (about 6-7.5 hours a night).  I calculated yesterday that he only ate 6 times and took right around 4 oz each time which would be 24 oz in a 24 hour period.

I was wondering if we were going to see an increase in his formula intake sometime soon because he is sleeping more?  Is he going to take more oz at each feeding or will he want to eat more often?  If your FF baby is STTN what have you noticed?  Thanks!

Re: STTN And Increased Daytime Feedings-FF

  • All I know is that I'm sitting here feeding dd again at 3am and I'm so jealous your dc consistently sleeps through the night! How often does he eat duemring the day?

  • My DS just started sleeping 8 hours at night.  He still takes 6 4 oz. bottles during the day.  He also takes one 5 oz. bottle at 5 a.m. when he first wakes up, so he is closer to 30 ounces.  He has in the past couple of days started wanting a little more, so I'm starting to up his bottles to 4.5 ounces and will just increase gradually as his needs change.
  • SOOOO jealous!!

  • We FF and DD eats only 6-7x a day about 3-5 oz each time.  Pedi thinks this is fine/right on target.

We moved her into her own room two nights ago b/c she is a very loud restless sleeper and I was definitely waking her up before she was ready (she really sounded awake and then she'd just sleep when I tried to feed her).  She's STTN both nights in her own room without me bugging her!

Last night she ate at 8:15, in bed by 9:15 and woke up on her own at 3:30 (7 hrs since feeding)!  I fed her, back to bed by 4 and she's still sleeping!
  • DD has been STTN for a little over a week now and she actually dropped a feeding.  She was eating around 4 - 5 oz., 6 times per day (usually about 28 - 30 oz. per day), but now she consistently eats 25 oz. per day (5 oz. at each feeding, 5 times a day).  She hasn't shown any signs of wanting more than that.

My pedi said to try and hold off on giving her more (unless she really wants it and only to 5.5 oz. for the evening bottle before she goes to bed) until her next weigh-in because DD gained a lot of weight between her 2 week, 5 day appt. and her 1 month, 3 day appt.  If all looks OK at her 2 month appt, then we will get the green light to increase some daytime bottles to 5.5 oz., or to increase the evening bottle to 6 oz.

  • My DS is a little older than yours but has been STTN since eight weeks.  He gets 5 5oz bottles throughout the day.  I do have cereal in his bottle because of reflux so I'm sure that helps.  He's sleeping for about 10 hrs/night.
