I have had a boy name selected ever since I was a teenager. It is my grandfather's middle name. DH has no choice, but he likes it anyway. DH and I had decided on Isabella looooong before we were pg or even married. But once we found out it was a girl, we decided to change it due to the increased popularity of that name. We had a really hard time but locked ourselves in our house until we could agree. 24 hours later we emerged with Gracie.
I've told a few Nesties this story IRL, but before we knew Luke was a boy DH would veto every girl name I came up with by saying, "That's a fat girl's name." I don't think he really thinks this about most girl names, but it was just an easy out for him. Oh and he really has nooooooooo room to talk--Homes is packing on at least 20 extra pounds these days.
Boy. Do you see my ticker? Want to know what boy name we have picked (we're having a surprise btw.) Um - we don't. We (I) have a list of 10 names - 3 of which I really, really like. DH has 1. That's it. And it's not on my list. And he won't consider any of the great names on my list. So 3 weeks to go and no name for a boy. I want to meet the baby before we name it but dude, seriously - some agreement would be good here!
As I said in the other post, we never had a boy name in mind. Thank God the u/s was right. If we end up having a boy down the road, right now, I have absolutely no names in mind. I have a name for potential DD #2, but that's it.
Boy names are hard. I wanted something "strong" and masculine, but something that wasn't too popular or unique. I'm not big on old fashioned names so something normal and conventional like William or Patrick or John wouldn't fit my fancy.
Plus our last name is tough. The only things that work with it well in my opinion are names that end in an -an, -in, -en sound or -a, -ah. -a names don't work for boys and the -n sounds all I can think of are things like jaiden, rowen, brayden, hayden, justin, preston, etc. I don't love any of them.

HA! Almost every girl's name I came up with i was met with "that is a stripper and/or porn star's name." Even when I tried to compromise on Ashley (which is NMS) and suggested Ashlyn, apparently there is a famous porn star named Ashlyn.
We had a MUCH easier time with boy names. We both like traditional boy names and narrowed it down to 2 names fairly quickly, then I won!
It's funny how it worked out. With both of our children, the first names came very easily, but we debated on a middle name. We chose Meredith before I conceived her and Alexander before I conceived him. We had a boy name for my first pregnancy but could not agree on a girl name the second time around.
If we were to have a third, we're pretty much in agreement on a girl name, but not on a boy name.
We've had a girl name picked out since before we were married; here we are with two boys. Both children were gender surprises, so we wanted to have both a boy name and a girl name settled before birth. DH picked Daniel's name, but until he came up with it (I was about six months pregnant at the time, I think), we were stymied. We settled on William's first name about 15 minutes before he was born, and worked out the middle name after we met him.
We couldn't decide on a boy name at all. We had some names picked out that we liked but nothing we got super excited about. We have had a girls name picked out since before I got pregnant, we just had to decide on a middle name which took a little while.
Re: Poll: Naming your child (future child)
Baby #1 was a gender-surprise and we had a girl name picked out a few months before. Never settled on a boy name.
Baby #2 will be a boy and we still haven't decided. We keep defaulting to the backup we talked about during Baby #1.
We don't love any boy names as much as we loved our girl name. I think boy names are more difficult.
