I'm trying to get better about not throwing stuff out-we have some old bath towels we don't use anymore. They are in pretty good condition, just don't match our bathrooms so we don't use them. I use 2-3 as large cleaning/soak up towels but I have about 5 other ones we never use. Anyone have ideas? Can I use them to make diaper inserts? (how well will they work to soak up/will I need to use something else in them also like microfiber?)
OH-and what about those old holey socks?? What to do with those?!
Re: What to do w/ old towels..
Call your local animal shelter and see if they need them. I know mine are always looking for towels in good condition to double as bedding or for cleaning.
And for socks, I use mine as dust mitts - just spritz with some almond oil and swipe across furniture for a quick dust and shine! I have a sock hanging from the clothes line, I store clothes pins in it. I have one that I cut the toe out of and stuffed with a plastic (ick) grocery bags, it's hanging in our garage for when we go on dog walks.
I have a bin in my laundry room full of old towels, burp cloths, Gerber diapers, tee shirts that I cut off the sleeves and hems to make two squares, etc. We use these to clean up messes on the floor, wipe the dog's feet when they come in from the rain, dust, wash the bathroom, you name it. When a towel gets a bit old, it goes into this pile.
