Let me say that I am VERY happy to be given things and know that it's the thought that counts, etc.
BUT...
I was given a hand-me-down "Harley Davidson" jacket, intended for Jackson. The size looks like it would fit probably a 7-year old.
Now, I have been given things that are sized for 2T, 3T, 4T and I'm very grateful to have those, I put them in labeled boxes and will be happy to have them when it's time.
But... am I really supposed to hang onto a coat for seven years? And mind you, the people that gave it to us (DH's sister and brother in law) are into motorcycles. We're not...
I feel ungrateful, I'm just not sure what to do with it and because of that, it's been in the back of my car for two months.
Where do I put it? I don't really have enough to make a box for "When Jackson is SEVEN."
Re: What do I do with this Frickin' Coat?
I have a box (or a few rather) of clothes for the next couple sizes up, and then a box for all of the stuff that is bigger than that. It seems like a long ways from now, but I've seen 4 and 5 year olds in a size 7, so you may not have to hold on to it for now.
Of course, if it's not really your style, you may not want to save it...
I get all sorts of things from my MIL that are not my style at all. I don't feel guilty about giving them to charity because she doesn't really care what my style is, she just likes to shop for her granddaughter (and she's 2,000 miles away so she'll never know).
It seems kind of random of them to give you something you'd have to store for so long. I'd donate or sell it, especially if you're tight on storage space.
