How to turn changing table w/drawers into toddler dresser?

We have this changing table...

Now that Camden is *almost* potty trained (not to mention 3 feet tall), we don't need his changer. However, he's still in his crib and has yet to try climbing out. We're not changing his crib to a toddler bed until he's 3 and then around 4 yrs I'll buy him a full bed with matching dresser. So I want to keep his changing table for the drawers, but I'm not needing the top part. We tried taking the front round rail off so that it would be open, but there are too many hidden screws and such. Any recs on how to make it a little more "big boy-ish" until we're ready to buy him a new bedroom set?
