that getting yours tubes tied is not 100% effective at preventing pregnancy. According to webmd.com, 5 in 1000 women will get pregnant after 1 year and after 10 years 18 in 1000 women will get pregnant. That's insane.
The odds are good that you wouldn't get pregnant, the same as using BCP correctly but I just think that is crazy.
Re: I didn't know...
I know someone who had #4 after getting her tubes tied.
Guess the nuns were right... there is only one way that is 100% effective... LOL.
I was similarly disappointed with the stats for Mirena. Did you look at the stats for vasectomy? I heard that it is a must less evasive procedure, but I don't know if it is more or less effective.
Wow, really? That's pretty surprising. I just assumed it was 100%.
My mom got pregnant with an IUD -- Hence my 3 year old baby sister
I had to look at the stats for vasectomy myself to satisfy my curiousity and found this in an article on WebMD:
"The study showed that six pregnancies were reported among 540 women within six weeks to 1.5 years after their husbands had a vasectomy."
I know that I saw a Dateline or something about a woman that was like an "I Didn't Know I Was PG" episode. Part of the reason was because her hubs hada vasectomy so they didn't think it was possible.
I think you're right: the nuns were right!
ETA: I forgot this important part. I think a lot of the problems with the men come from the fact that they don't go to their follow up appointments to be checked after the procedure is done.
hmmmm Men not following instructions -- yep, thats news! heeheeheee
All these stories are scaring me.
