Babies: 3 - 6 Months

DD slept 12 hours straight last night

and I'm not bragging, I'm a little concerned if she should be sleeping this long now.

She started daycare this week, so I was expecting some adjustment, she doesn't take loong naps there, started with 2-30min naps then 1-30min and 1-1hr. Her teacher says she's a really easy baby, that she only cries when she is sleepy and can't sleep by herself..  needs some type of rocking (thanks MIL btw).. or if another baby is crying and wakes her up.. but other than that she's fine, she eats well..

when we arrive home ~3:30pm she takes a bottle, we play and then get ready to the bath-eating-sleeping routine at 5:30.. so by 6 she's almost passed out.... and she waked up at 6 am Tongue Tied

thoughts?

TIA

Re: DD slept 12 hours straight last night

  • I would not be too concerned - unless it kept up for a few days.  I believe that babies know how much sleep they need sometimes better than us.

  • I don't think at this age that it's a concern. I say, rejoice that she's sleeping well.

  • I wouldn't be too concerned, except that you want to make sure she's getting all her calories in. If she keeps it up for a couple days, maybe thinking about adjusting her feedings to make up for it.

  • My DD did something similar her first week at daycare.  I think she was just exhausted from a full day of new faces and new things.  It will probably go back to normal when she is more adjusted to daycare.  Enjoy it while you can ;)
  • Young kids are supposed to get 12-14 hours a nnight (in theory).

As long as she's keeping her weight, then enjoy it.

Oh, and could you have her call my DD and tell her to do the same??? Thanks. =]

  • My DD sleeps 12-13 hour night every night since she was about 8 weeks old. It's normal:) My son was the same from 3 months and still sleeps 12 hour nights at 2.5 years old..enjoy it!
