Trouble TTC

sperm count ??

DH did his SA in November..everything was totally normal. Well yesterday when we went in for the IUI, they said they had a hard time finding sperm?? They talked to use about possible causes...the only thing that makes sense is that he runs a couple a miles a day and wears compression shorts.

Has anyone had this happen, go from normal to WTF?

FYI-We went ahead with the IUI since we were so excited to even have the chance. It only takes one. He has repeat SA on monday.

Re: sperm count ??

  • Hmmm...I do know that levels can fluctuate even from day to day.  We did b2b IUI's last cycle and while the first day our numbers weren't "ideal", the 2nd day the count just about tripled.  Who knows.

I hope things work out for you and your DH--What was the count when you did the IUI?

not sure the numbers. He said that they don't usually do a count, but when he looked at the slide he would typically see sperm everywhere and he actually had to move the slide and microscope to find them. The ones that were there were fine though.

  • Hmmmm, I would def think the compression shorts are a TTC no, no. It is a little random though that his first was fine. I wouldn't worry too much until you get the next one.

I started asking for copies of my husband's SA. I had to sign a release and fill out some papers, but I keep that stuff in a file. The nurse at my OB had orignally told me that MH morph was 30% only to find out after getting copies that it was 0%. Um, whoops. So, try to get some copies for your records if you can. GL on your IUI!

  • MH first SA showed good numbers, but a little low on the motility side.  That was in October.  His second SA in April showed everything was really good.  So many things can affect those little guys.  If you need to do IUI again, he could have more sperm than they know what to do with.  :)  Good luck.

  • Have you had any success?  My DH's SA showed low motility and morphology.  Do you know of anything to help?  We are trying IUI this week for the first time.
