Baby Names

B/G twins names

We're having boy/girl twins in September and wanted to see what folks thought of our names.

Piper Elizabeth Woodward (not our last name, but similar)

Fletcher John Woodward

The MN are family names and fairly non-negotiable, especially John.

Thoughts on Piper and Fletcher (Fletch for short)? We're trying to be slightly different but not too far out there (and find something DH and I can agree on...if it was up to him, the boy would be named Hans Solo or Optimus Prime or Elvis or the babies would be Luke and Leia..LOL!)

  • Sorry never been a fan of Piper. IMHO I don't think it is a pretty girl name. But to each their own.....and Fletcher to me sounds like a dogs name.

  • I like them both separately and I think they go well together. :-)

  • Not a fan of either. I like your middle names though.

  • I like Piper.  Fletcher is nms but goes well with Piper.

I laughed at the "Optimus Prime" comment because my DH is the same way!

  • I like Elizabeth and John, but not Piper and Fletcher.
  • I like Piper.  Not a huge fan of Fletcher, but I don't hate it either.  However, I don't like Piper and Fletcher together.  They aren't over-the-top matchy-matchy, but I, personally, would find names that aren't both two-syllables and end in "er."

This, and I really like Piper.

  • I like them. They do go together very very well. And they're different without being too out there. Good luck with your twins :)
  • I love Fletcher and Piper is okay but I like them a lot together.

  • I love the girl name but I don't think Fletcher John sounds good together. What about Fletcher Evan? IDK, I really like Piper!

  • I can't decide - I like Piper, but Fletcher makes me think of Chevy Chase..or maybe it's them together - it's a good idea using something subtle like occupation names, although the "er" part makes it more obvious. I don't know though...i'm still undecided.

  • Both are NMS... but I like more traditional names.
  • I love Zander and Zoey for b/g twins. How exciting! Good luck!
  • I find Piper to masculine to be paired with Fletcher in a boy/girl twin set.  I would guess that a Piper is female but I wouldn't know for sure and I would guess that a Fletcher is male but I wouldn't know for sure.  I think you can only have one gender ambigious name in a b/g twin pairing and I prefer Fletcher.  I'd just pair it with something girlier.
  • Don't love Piper, but I definitely like it better than Fletcher. Fletcher sounds "yuppie".

I like Piper, but I really don't like Fletcher. I think of a combination of Chevy Chase and a dog. I like both middle names.
  • THey're not necessarily my style but I like them & I agree that they go well together!

I have b/g twins also & in the beginning I was thinking about names that 'went' well together and also middle names that 'went' well with the first name & after awhile I said, this is stupid, you never use the middle name except formally (unless you actually intend to call them that, different story) so if you are using meaningful middle names, just use them! (and yours are so traditional, I personally think they go well with most names) Plus,  once you say twins' names together over & over they just sound natural together anyway unless they're really off the wall.

We picked the boy name we liked best and the girl name we liked best, separately, and didn't concern ourselves with how they sounded together-Except when they're little kids & always together, people won't (hopefully) always know them as 'the twins' so why do their names need to sound good together? As adults, which is most of their lives, many people they know won't even know they're part of a set of twins. Pick names you think would be great names for their whole lives, as individuals.

GL and sorry for the soapbox.

ETA :I don't know if it bothers you but her initials would be PEW. Only reason I mention it is that girls tend to get monogrammed stuff more.
