Calling all FVL's
I was diagnosed with homo FVL in April after 3 m/c. We've been lucky to not have any issues TTC but have issues "sticking". After the diagnosis I was really nervous and bummed out that I couldn't have a "normal" pregnancy but so far everything is going well. My doctor actually suggested only doing the Lovenox through the first tri but after researching others scenarios I asked to continue treatment up to 35 weeks. My question to you all is, have any of you only done the first tri treatment or have you continued throughout? I would love to get off the Lovenox sooner rather than later but at this point, we're thinking if this is what I need to do, I'll do it.
Also, I'm only 8 weeks along and am having a hard time sitting on this news but with my history of m/c I have to keep a tight seal on these loose lips. Have any of you had other issues throughout pregnancy due to the high risk diagnosis? I'm so excited but so nervous at the same time. One good thing is this nausea I'm having is consistently arriving the same time everyday. Anyway, I'd love to hear your FVL stories...

I am only hetero FVL and developed a massive clot with my last pregnancy. It left permanent damage to my leg, and I will unfortunately be wearing compression hose for the rest of my life
From my experience, if I were you, I would totally definitely 100% stay on the lovenox as long as possible. I wish I knew that I had FVL before I got pregnant because I may have been able to prevent it from happening.
Also, please make sure you are staying hydrated even though you are feeling sick. The docs are now telling me that dehyration is a huge factor in developing blood clots. Yet one more thing I wish I had known before...
Have you met with an MFM? Even my BFF, who is hetero FVL and never had a clot, stayed on a phrophylactic dose through her entire pregnancy.

I would definitely stay on the lovenox throughout. I meet with a hematologist monthly as well as my OB.
My OB keeps everyone on a standard does of 40 mg throughout pregnancy and for 6 weeks postpartum (this changes if you've clotted, of course).
My hema puts me on 40 mg twice a day during the third trimester and post partum. She says this is when you are at greatest risk of clotting due to weight gain and blood volume, so I would be very wary about going off the lovenox at this time.
I do know a lot of OBs switch their patients to heparin towards the end, so that you can go into labor on your own. Mine prefers to keep me on lovenox (less monitoring needed for blood levels) and induce at 37.5 weeks.

P.S. I did lovenox with my last pregnancy and had no problems. This time around I've had some low fluid these past few weeks which my OB says might be related to my FVL. I'm FVL hetero and MTHFR hetero. Good luck!
Yes, the fact that you are homozygous means that both your mom and dad have it - they could either be hetero or homo so they should probaby get tested, as should your brothers and sisters.
You should defnitely be seeing a hemotologist throughout your pregnancy.
And I agree with pp, the 3rd tri and post partum are the highest-risk periods for clots, so I would think your docs would want to keep you anti-coagulated throughout.
