We got our crib from a former coworker of DH's. It has no tags, or any other identifying marks from what I can find.
Is there any other way of telling whether or not it's involved in the recall? None of the pics I've seen look like our crib, but I certainly haven't seen a pic of all of the millions involved either.
TIA!
Re: Possibly stupid (or not) question re: cribs involved in the recall
If it's dropside I would go ahead and assume that it has been recalled. I **believe** that most of the recalled crib companies are sending repair kits out to stabalize the drrop side so it becomes stantionary. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
So you could stop using your crib or if you know someone that is handy and you trust their workmanship skills you could probably get them to make the dropside stationary in some other way. Good Luck.
Given the scope of this recall I would say it is safe to assume your crib is included. How have you checked if your crib was included in the previous recalls? Do you have any information available about the crib? Manufacturer? Year it was made? If not, your best bet might be to have someone build a bar similar to what the recall fixes look like. Or buy a new crib. IKEA has very reasonably priced cribs.
No offense intended but this is a great example of why it isn't recommended to buy a used crib or use one given to you by someone else. Because now you're kind of in a pickle not knowing how safe or unsafe your crib is! But my understanding is that there is supposed to be some identifying marks on the crib that can't be removed so that you can at least determine manufacturer and year. Is there absolutely nothing on the underside of the crib or the underside of the mattress support? Good luck!
I haven't been able to find any markings of any sort. I guess they could be under a joint or something. Maybe.
Oh well. It is a drop side. We were thinking about trying to transition DD to a twin bed soon anyway, so I guess maybe this is our motivation, huh? Time to shop for big girl beds...
