I had read it says to keep nursing on that side...but not even an option it is so painful!! I've tried a heating pad which is the best thing that seems to be helping and I'm pumping on that side....any other suggestions it started last night but became painful to nurse as of this morning...
thanks !!
Re: blocked Duct...OUCH!!!!!!!! any suggestions...
After you are done pumping, try putting ice on it for 10-20 minutes. Also, taking a nice hot shower can help release it.
I had a really bad blocked duct shortly after my milk came in. It took almost an entire day to get it to release. I was starting to get really concerned.
Massaging that side while standing in a hot shower always worked wonders for me. They are very painful, good luck! I dont remember mine hurting worse while nursing though so I'd call doc if continues.
Try massaging the spot where it is clogged (I know it'll hurt, but you gotta do it) while LO is nursing and while pumping. Also massage it in the shower. It can take a few times to get it to release, but it should. If it doesn't, and you start running a fever, you need to talk to your doc.
Good luck!
I started taking Lecithin supplements to help clear up and prevent clogged ducts. I was skeptical at first but then tried it out of desperation. It really works!
