I am so excited that we are taking some major steps to get totally debt free. DH called about his college loan yesterday and we found out that the if we put $77 additional bucks towards his loan, we could have it paid off in 10 years. That might sound like a long time, but given the amount - it was great news.
Anyone else doing something to cut back or paying off debt?
Re: NBR: Paying off debt
That's great news!
I was the one with the debt when we got married and recently we paid it off by taking a loan from DH's thrift savings account. It works where all of the interest that we pay goes directly into the account so you lose the ability for that money to grow but don't completely miss out on having some interest build up while your using the money. It wasn't an option we wanted but with little one on the way and me not having a job, it seemed like the least stressful way to deal with it.
We've been in heavy debt repayment mode. 6 more months until we're completely debt free and I cannot wait!!
ETA: this is not including student loans, we'll be paying those forever. haha
