What books are you reading??

I was just wondering what pregnancy books you are reading? Is there one that you like/love/hate? Any recommondations?

So far I am halfway done with "The Pregnancy Book" by Dr. Sears and Mrs. Sears. I am loving this book!!

I am also about halfway done with "The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy" by Vicki Iovine. So far this one is pretty great as well. It is not a medical book, but it definitely feels as if your g/f is talking to you about pregnancy.

I also bought "Baby Bargains" and have been using that as a reference guide. Another great book!

Re: What books are you reading??

  • I have read Belly Laughs, Pregnancy Week by Week, The Guys Guide to Surviving Pregnancy, Childbirth and the 1st Year (after DH & it was hillarious) & I check back in Pregnancy Day by Day about once a week, The Mother of All Pregnancy Books as well.  I am a pretty avid reader and since I have covered all my bases preggers wise, I had moved on to Baby gear guides & am now reading parenting books.  I am currently reading the Baby Whisperer & it is an amazing book, I love the author's approach to parenting and can't wait to apply the methods once LO arrives!

  • I'm not really reading any pg related books, maybe it's because it's my second.  :)  That being said, I am getting in as much fictional reading as possible before LO gets here and I have two LO's to chase after.  :)  It took about 18 months after DD was born before I could get back into reading, which I love.  Sorry for the ramble.

  • I flip thru "What to Expect" and I have a book from my drs office that I can't remember the title of.  I mainly use them as an encyclopedia/reference, though the drs office one has a nice Birth Plan worksheet that I plan to use.

Otherwise, I don't read pregnancy books "for fun".  I have other books I'd prefer to get thru.

  • I'm reading the sears books as well.  I'm on 5 months in the pregnancy and I want to start the birth one soon as well.  I also have the Girlfriend's Guide which I haven't started reading yet.... lots of reading to do!!

  • I was reading "What to Expect" but my insurance company (thanks Aetna)sent me a free copy of the "Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy".  I LOVE it!  There is so much information.  So my "What to expect" book is back on the book shelf and the "Mayo Clinic" book is on my nighstand!  I also breezed through "Belly Laughs".  It was a fun read.
  • I am reading the Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy that I received from my insurance company. I also plan on reading the Girlfriend's Guide- my sister recommended it to me.

  • This is my first, so I read "The Mother of All Pregnancy Books" and "The Mother of All Baby Books." Both were very informative.

I bought the American Academy of Pediatrics' big book, but it's HUGE and covers birth to age five, so I don't think I'm going to read it cover-to-cover. I think I'll skim it and maybe read up on topics I'm interested in, then keep it on the shelf as a reference guide.

I also bought "Childproofing Your Dog," which is next on my list to read. I had to give myself a break first and actually do some fun reading on vacation. Smile

  • I'm reading belly laughs while DH is reading (aloud so I can laugh too) my boys can swim.  I have the mayo guide, but it's okay (i have health care background so some of it I've heard before).  We picked up another book for DH about playskools guide to expectant fathers and bringing home your newborn.  But other than that I read more fun books instead.

  • I'm reading Your Pregnancy: Week by Week. I refuse to read What to Expect because to me it seems like a list of "here is anything and everything that can go wrong" and who needs that?

  • I've read The Baby Owner's Manual, The Expectant Father, and Mama Knows Breast. I've skimmed through What to Expect, Feed the Belly, and Diaper Changes and have a pregnancy journal that gives me little daily tidbits. I want to read Ina May's Guide to Childbirth and So That's What They're for.

Of course I've gotten my share of leisure reading in too.
