I have a doctor's appt. today at 1 and want to go with some questions for my doc about my c-section. So far I've got:
Will DH be able to cut the cord?
How long will I be in recovery?
What will happen with the baby while I'm in recovery?
Will you use stitches or staples?
How soon can I shower afterward?
How long will the catheter be in?
Does the catheter go in before or after the spinal?
What kind of pain meds will I be on and for how long?
Will the pain meds be safe for nursing?
What am I missing?
Re: If you've had a c-section come in...
Do the stitches desolve?
if using staples when are they removed?
when can you resume normal activity such as laundry, vacuuming, walking etc...?
I talked with my OB early on about their procedures for c/s and we had discussed not having my arms tied down and allowing for immediate skin-to-skin contact and nursing after delivery (still in the operating room).
She was totally on-board with all of those things as long as there wasn't an emergency situation. Not all OB's will do this, but it's worth asking for if it is important to you.
Bloggin' It
Will they provide you with some sort of abdominal support band? (If not, I highly recommend purchasing one, it helped with recovery tremendously!)
Also, if they say the catheter will be inserted prior to the spinal REQUEST that they do it after. They were ready to put it in while I was still in my room and I asked if they could wait. They were fine with that.
What are some common side effects of the anesthesia and pain meds? I had an allergic reaction to the morphine and was itchy for hours afterward.
